Suburban Rules

  1. LEAGUE PURPOSE:
  2. The Adray Suburban Hockey League is organized for the purpose of supplying the youth of our member citites with proper supervision, leadership and coaching, for a better understanding of the game of hockey and the learning and teaching of sportsmanship.

    The Adray Suburban Hockey League has adopted the Michigan Youth Sports Institute Code of Ethics as a standard model for coaching and administering this hockey program. This Code of Ethics exemplifies the leagues philosophy for good sportsmanship and fair play which will help to ensure all participants the full enjoyment and benefits ofthis program.

    CODE OF ETHICS FQR COACHES
    1. I will treat each player, opposing coach, official, parent and administrator with respect and dignity.
    2. I will do my best to learn the fundamental skills, teaching and evaluation techniques, and strategies of my sport.
    3. I will become thoroughly familiar with the rules of the sport.
    4. I will become familiar with the objectives ofthe youth sports program with which I am affiliated. I will strive to achieve these objectives and communicate them to my players and their parents.
    5. I will uphold the authority of officials who are assigned to the contests in which I coach, and I will assist them in every way to conduct fair and impartial competitive contests.
    6. I will learn the strengths and weaknesses of my players so that I might place them into situations where they have minimum opportunity to achieve success.
    7. I will conduct my practices and games so that all players have an opportunity to improve their skill level through active participation.
    8. I will communicate to my players and their parents the rights and responsibilities of individuals on our team.
    9. I will cooperate with the administrator of our organization in the enforcement of rules and regulations, and I will report any irregularities that violate sound competitive practices.
    10. I will protect the health and safety of my players by insisting that all of the activities under my control are conducted for their psychological and physiological welfare, rather than for the vicarious interests of adults.

    The Adray Suburban Hockey League encourages all coaches and team leaders to take advantage of the C.E.P. program as presented by USA HOCKEY and MAHA. The ethical principals presented above are reflected in the teaching techniques of the C.E.P. program and will aid all hockey leaders in developing a well rounded approach to teaching youth hockey.

  3. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE LEAGUE DIRECTORS
    1. It is the responsibility of the Division Director to make sure that a copy of all the M.A.H.A. rosters be submitted to the League Secretary by November 15th of the current season and a copy of any additions or releases to the roster as they occur.
    2. It is the responsibility of the Division Director to see that a copy of all schedule changes and correspondence pertaining to League matters is forwarded to the League Secretary.
    3. A copy of any and all protest ruled on by each Division Director must be forwarded to the League Secretary.
    4. To instruct all coaches that violations of fair ice time for players may cause the team to be dropped from the League.
    5. Send in to the League Secretary a list of all coaches, their addresses and phone numbers and ice times.

  4. SUBURBAN LEAGUE RULES
    1. Game misconducts must be called in to your Division Director within 24 hours after the completion of the game.
    2. No PROTEST wil1 be accepted for 1 referee showing up if the game is played
    3. Protests should be reported to your Division Director.
    4. Score sheets must be mailed to your Division Director.

    Any violations of the above rules are subject to disciplinary action by the Suburban League Directors
